I have recently had the HVAC control unit in the boot replaced because the windows were not working My auto electrician thought the replacement control unit which I bought from MB might be faulty and the cause of the immobiliser problem because all these things are controlled from that unit. Also Fuse No.11 in the boot keeps blowing (luggage compartment light etc). Coupled with the immobiliser not working at all, the central locking is now working intermittently (sometimes the doors lock when I press the key fob, sometimes they don't). Having been an intermittent problem, the problem is now permanent. In other words, I would press the key fob to deactivate the immobiliser and only the green light in the mirror would flash but the indicators would not tick twice (and permit the car to run continuously following ignition). Recently, the immobiliser started operating intermittently. Hi I am having a very similar problem on my 1996 CL500. but is dependent on a simple ground being provided by the ATA (Alarm module) for the K38 relay to engage! Got it? Pin 5 on K38, Brown Wire with Gray Tracer! Please keep in mind, this system is not simple for a reason. Also a basic K38 relay and associated wiring is also affixed. The N26 and associated Alarm module component drawing is attached below. damaged, you can get Innovative with "Your personal" Benz!. this module to assume a true status and supply the ground on the the other side of the coil is pin five (5) Brown wire with Gray Tracer and is looking for a ground from the Immobilizer module (N26/ ATA) in boot (trunk) right rear side behind carpeted bulkhead. as 12 vdc fed from(fuse box in trunk circuit 2, 7.5 ampere fuse). Pin four (4) is red wire with gray tracer. Coil is described/ controlled as follows: The K38 relay coil* (will close/ control the above described contacts (pins 1 & 3) closed and true). and ensure all fuses are valid (not open curtailing Ignition spark, etc.) Ie: Also check fuses for your particular vehicle. the K38 is engaged and the Ignition coils (two on 119 and 120 engines) are may not getting power to be true. The contacts are open due to the coil not being energized (due to your vehicle not being unlocked or mobilized). Pin 1 (violet wire with white tracer) comes from the Transmission neutral/ Park switch pin three(pin 3, Transmission Range Recognition). Pin 3 (violet wire) comes from the ignition switch. thus the N26 ATA module (Immobilizer) is not True/ Valid or fuse is open). if starter doesn't spin with ignition key. The K38 relay contact: (pin 1 violet with white tracer and pin 3 violet). is usually located on drivers side of center console just behind the flexible bulkhead.
